History Lessons on Facebook Timeline

September 14th, 2012

Amsterdam high school 4e Gymnasium has a nifty way of teaching history – through Facebook. The history class is using Facebook timelines to explore four major historical topics: the rise and fall of the Soviet Union, Fashion from 1950 to the present, inventions of the 20th century and Magellan’s Voyage.

The layout of Facebook timeline is perfect for this and students can map out the historical event in chronological order. Stories can be told through different media by adding audio, video, photos, maps and historical documents on the pages.

What’s more, students can add questions or comments under posts and teachers can also lead discussions. Even the public is invited to contribute to the page.
